On numerous occasions
Detective Rick Lopez has provided cutting edge, dynamic entry
training for Metropolitan Division personnel. The training included
the "Push/Pull" method for defeating security doors. The techniques
taught by Lopez have been utilized by Metropolitan personnel in real
world dynamic search warrants, making for a swift and safe entry.

Det
II Rick Lopez has been on the Los Angeles police department for over
27 years. I had the privilege of working with Rick on LAPD/SWAT
for over 13 years. During that period of time Rick became one of
the senior and most experienced members of SWAT, Rick promoted
to Detective and became the senior training coordinator for Los
Angeles Police Department's Narcotics Division. Rick, with his
experience and tactical background, was instrumental in re-structuring
the narcotics division with standard operating procedures for firearms
and tactical training for narcotics search warrants. Ricks expertise
has been unsurpassed in training and teaching numerous units with in
the > Los Angeles Police Department. Rick has also been asked to train
and teach entities and agencies throughout the state of California and
across the country, resulting in high praise from the recipients of
his training. Rick, due to his training and active role in real world
experience in SWAT. and narcotics, has developed tools and
equipment to assist tactical teams in safer and faster ways of
entering fortified structures. One specific tool Rick designed and
developed is a manual breaching tool called the "Punch and Pull". This
tool similar to a "slide hammer" was developed to enable entry team
members to defeat iron barred doors enabling entry with in a very
short period of time when explosive breaching and vehicle pulls were
not able to be used. Ricks experience and enthusiasm can only elevate
any entities level of training searching for tactical training.

Breaching is a specialty
that few people are ever able to master, but Rick has been able
to do that through his own personal experiences in law enforcement. The
breaching techniques and tools, especially the "Punch and Pull",
that were utilized in the training that Rick provided have
elevated our abilities and confidence to the next level. We have
been able to successfully utilize the techniques and tools in
real life operations."

Six members of our warrant
service team attended Ricks breaching course. The live fire portion of
the training further built the trust between team members vital to
being a successful team. All of our members trained using the “Punch
and Pull” and other breaching tools. The practical portion of the
course in regards to using this tool is invaluable. Seeing the
capabilities demonstrated of this highly affective tool is impressive
but actually operating the tool gives you a new respect for what it
can do. We are sending additional members to the training so our team
can be better and safer by utilizing Rick’s tactics and techniques.

This is one of the best
training classes I have received in my 15 yrs as a police officer.
The training is realistic, efficient and expeditiously relevant to
high risk entries. The experience the staff brings to the training
is unsurpassed, which brings credibility to the table when
instructions and examples are given of past successes and failures
in the breaching arena. Rick thank you for your exemplary
professionalism and knowledge on the course, I look forward in
attending your next school in the near future.

Narcotics enforcement
in the city of Los Angeles required the service of search warrants
as a part of many investigations. A very critical portion of the
search warrant service was the initial entry into the structure to
be searched. Rick Lopez has provided Los Angeles Police Department
Narcotics Squads and Gang units a course of training that was
unsurpassed in the area of breaching and entering a search warrant
location. Rick Lopez has dedicated himself and unselfishly donated
time and material in order that his fellow police officers would
receive the best training and equipment for the job at hand. I had
the distinct pleasure and good fortune to have been trained along
with the narcotics squad I worked with by Rick Lopez. I found his
training style and knowledge of breaching and entering unsurpassed.
Rick took a very pragmatic and professional approach when he
presented his training. I only hope that anyone in law enforcement
would have the good fortune to receive a block of training from an
instructor such as Rick Lopez.
